This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare and/or evaluate financial reports at month-end and quarter-end, including the NCUA 5300 report.
• Analyze assets, liabilities, and capital while preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and various financial reports.
• Investigate and document any abnormalities or significant fluctuations.
• Prepare and/or review variance reports, such as Budget to Actual analysis.
• Collaborate with the Controller to develop the annual non-interest income and expense budget.
• Research and document technical accounting matters to ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Guarantee adherence to regulatory accounting and reporting standards.
• Establish, modify, document, and coordinate the implementation of accounting procedures, controls, and general accounting systems alongside the Controller.
• Mentor and oversee staff responsible for the accounting month-end close process.
• Manage the staff handling general ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Supervise Payroll, Settlement, and Accounts Payable operations.
• Address management inquiries concerning financial statement data.
• Investigate and respond to inquiries from federal examiners and internal/external auditors both in writing and verbally.
• Assess department processes to identify areas for enhancement and operational efficiency.
• Execute additional tasks as assigned.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant accounting experience is required.
• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of stated qualifications.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles is essential.
• Capability to read, analyze, and interpret professional and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Proficiency in responding to inquiries or complaints from members, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
• Ability to present information effectively to top management, members, and boards of directors in both written and oral formats.
• Competence in writing reports and correspondence, including emails, with correct spelling and grammar.
• Basic mathematics skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages using a 10-key calculator.
• Proficient in Windows-based applications, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Moderate keyboarding skills at a rate of 40 words per minute.
• Exceptional customer service abilities.
• Quick learner of specialized applications and systems with adaptability to change.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals at all levels.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
• Proficient in writing and speaking effectively in English.
• Must be able to communicate and present via telephone or digital communication tools, including Zoom/Teams/video technologies.
• Capable of performing extensive computer work, up to eight hours daily.
• May occasionally need to push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
