Virtual Chief Information Officer – vCIO

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary strategic technology consultant for designated clients

• Build trusted relationships with executives, business owners, and key decision-makers

• Facilitate technology strategy sessions and conduct technology business evaluations

• Articulate findings, risks, recommendations, and investment priorities in business-centric language

• Create and uphold strategic technology roadmaps, IT budgets, and lifecycle management strategies

• Assess client technology infrastructures for risks, inefficiencies, and modernization opportunities

• Formulate actionable recommendations and collaborate with stakeholders on solutions

• Deploy proactive IT strategies to minimize support issues, avert emergencies, and reduce overall IT ownership costs

• Identify and propose emerging technologies, strategic enhancements, and service offerings

• Promote and position Kinetix services to current clients

• Utilize ScalePad to monitor assets, assess lifecycles, formulate replacement budgets, and prepare technology business evaluations

• Collaborate with internal technical teams, service delivery staff, vendors, and external partners

• Support internal teams with escalations, technical inquiries, and strategic decisions

• Partner with Cybersecurity Services on security, risk management, and compliance matters

• Keep documentation of client IT systems, infrastructure setups, assets, and recommendations

• Track evolving client technology needs and business objectives

• Provide a consultative, service-oriented client experience centered on measurable value and long-lasting relationships

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in information technology

• Comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure, operational best practices, and technology lifecycle management

• Experience in client-facing roles such as consultative, technical advisory, or account management

• Proven track record of presenting technology strategies and recommendations to executive stakeholders

• Strong technical expertise in Windows and macOS environments, servers, cloud infrastructure, networking, and contemporary business technology solutions

• Experience in evaluating technology environments, spotting improvement opportunities, crafting strategic recommendations, and supporting organizational technology initiatives

• Exceptional communication, facilitation, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities

• Capability to manage numerous client relationships while translating technical concepts into clear business recommendations

• Preferred: experience as a vCIO, IT Director, technical strategist, or strategic technology advisor in an MSP setting

• Preferred: experience in developing client technology roadmaps, IT budgets, lifecycle management plans, and executive-level technology business evaluations

• Preferred: familiarity with ScalePad

• Preferred: working knowledge of Cisco Meraki, Jamf MDM, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Azure, Okta, OneLogin, CrowdStrike, and ThreatLocker

• Preferred: experience in recommending technology services, supporting account growth, and identifying client IT improvement opportunities

• Relevant IT training or professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent technical credentials are preferred

• Strategic technology planning and tactical problem-solving skills
