Vice President – Outside Plant Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supervise operations related to Outside Plant Construction.

• Execute safe and high-quality construction projects across the nation.

• Oversee multiple Project Managers managing high-volume, multi-million-dollar FTTH/FTTP projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.

• Establish fundamental design and delivery timelines for city-wide FTTH networks.

• Support business goals through effective operational procedures, technology integration, regulatory compliance, and precise reporting.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards while continuously enhancing systems and workflows.

• Foster strategic relationships with internal teams, jurisdictional authorities, pole owners, and contractors.

• Collaborate with other Vice Presidents to develop and execute a strategic vision for the OSP Construction organization.

• Build connections with Engineering/Design, Field Operations, Sales/Marketing, Business Development, and Real Estate/Legal teams.

• Promote safety and ethical compliance across a geographically diverse workforce.

• Manage large-scale FTTP/FTTH project execution and oversight.

• Cultivate a customer-service-oriented environment emphasizing problem avoidance and swift resolution.

• Assess field processes and tools, implementing technology-enabled enhancements.

• Partner with senior management, Recruiting, and Associate Resources to recruit, develop, onboard, and retain staff.

• Set annual objectives, conduct performance evaluations, and provide progress updates.

• Create collaborative teams focused on safety, business goals, and employee career development.

• Identify and address personnel challenges.

• Prepare for and lead meetings, presentations, negotiations, and organizational activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of combined experience in telecommunications construction and/or network operations, including management of multi-layered teams.

• Preferred 10+ years of field force management experience.

• A BS/BA degree in a relevant field that supports job requirements is advantageous.

• Proven experience in implementing and enhancing systems and processes for construction operations management.

• Experience managing P&L for large construction projects.

• Weekly travel is required; over 50% of time spent traveling to existing, proposed, and new markets.

• Capability to participate in monthly meetings with market representatives.

• Competence in engaging in negotiations with government agencies, utility companies, locating services, and construction partners.

• Willingness to work nights and/or weekends as necessary.

• Outstanding strategic planning and leadership abilities.

• Proven success in recommending and implementing process and efficiency enhancements.

• Demonstrated ability to identify and capitalize on strategic business opportunities.

• Exceptional leadership, decision-making, and team motivation skills.

• Proficiency in translating customer needs into clear, concise, and impactful presentations and teaching others to do the same.

• Ability to work effectively across internal functional groups.

• Self-motivated with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Strong understanding of telecommunications technologies, construction methodologies, FTTH architecture, and related materials/products.

• Extensive experience in managing employee issues and making sound judgment decisions.

• Ability to comply with federal, state, and municipal regulatory requirements.
