Vice President, Chemical Engineering – Process Innovation

📋 Description

• Collaborate with technical and operational leaders to enhance engineering capabilities, technical practices, and cross-site collaboration.

• Convert shared priorities into a strategic roadmap featuring clear milestones and measurable outcomes.

• Foster the development of engineering talent across the United States, Europe, and China.

• Provide mentorship to technical leaders, share effective methodologies, and assist in recruitment aligned with evolving business requirements.

• Enhance understanding, measurement, modeling, and control processes to facilitate reliable automation.

• Link laboratory development with manufacturing requirements from the beginning.

• Create and validate methods that integrate PAT, process models, and data-driven decisions.

• Leverage AI where it demonstrates tangible process value.

• Prioritize opportunities for automated and continuous processing, showcase their value, and lead the engineering efforts necessary for manufacturing integration.

• Enhance capabilities in reaction engineering, continuous processing, crystallization, solid-form and particle engineering, and separation and isolation.

• Choose technologies based on process requirements, safety, robustness, and economic viability.

• Convert successful strategies into reusable platforms across client programs.

• Expand relevant capabilities from small molecules to peptides, oligonucleotides, and innovative modalities.

• Steer critical engineering decisions during scale-up, technology transfer, and commercialization.

• Collaborate with process chemistry, analytical, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams to tackle complex process challenges.

• Engage clients regarding technical strategy and due diligence.

• Transform engineering capabilities into credible development and manufacturing solutions.

• Identify opportunities for technological advancement, shape long-term priorities, and direct investment in personnel, equipment, and external collaborations.

• Assess emerging technologies with scientific rigor and implementation discipline.

• Establish academic and industry partnerships, nurture future technical leaders, and represent Asymchem in senior technical discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a closely related field.

• Significant experience in pharmaceutical development, engineering, or manufacturing, typically 15+ years, with increasing leadership responsibilities.

• Proven track record in advancing engineering capabilities or technology platforms, developing talent, and translating technical progress into sustained operational outcomes.

• Strong foundation in chemical engineering principles, expertise in one or more relevant process technologies, and the capacity to lead specialists.

• A successful history of scale-up, technology transfer, or commercial implementation is essential.

• A collaborative leader who nurtures talent, earns trust across functions, and promotes technical priorities through shared ownership and disciplined execution.

• Credibility with clients, technical experts, and executives; sound judgment in process safety and quality; and the ability to lead across diverse functions, cultures, and locations.

• Bilingual in English and Mandarin is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Experience with process automation, advanced controls, or continuous manufacturing is preferred.

• Familiarity with peptides or oligonucleotides and external technology partnerships is desirable.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 40% of the time.
