This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +36 more states.
• Develop and oversee the financial planning and analysis function at Vital Farms.
• Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and translate strategic initiatives into actionable financial plans.
• Lead the creation of integrated annual operating plans, long-term forecasts, and the latest-estimate processes.
• Connect various elements such as demand, supply, pricing, trade, mix, cost, capacity, working capital, capital expenditures, and financing into comprehensive scenarios and actionable recommendations.
• Create KPI scorecards, conduct business reviews, generate forecasts, prepare functional P&Ls, and facilitate Board reporting and action tracking.
• Deliver reporting and variance analysis that elucidates performance, underlying causes, future outlook, and necessary decisions.
• Formulate decision frameworks for pricing, profitability, portfolio selections, demand and supply balance, cost initiatives, capital investments, and strategic projects.
• Monitor key financial metrics including revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, cash flow, liquidity, and business-related risks.
• Collaborate with various departments including Sales, Marketing, Egg Production, Supply Chain, Operations, Strategy, Accounting, IT, Investor Relations, People, and executive leadership.
• Present analyses and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Guide, mentor, and develop the FP&A team.
• Enhance finance data architecture, automate reporting and forecasting processes, reinforce controls, and broaden self-service insights.
• Review financial models, rigorously test assumptions, address daily challenges, and facilitate critical analyses.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline; an MBA, CPA, or CFA is preferred but not mandatory.
• Over 12 years of progressive finance experience, with substantial leadership responsibilities in FP&A.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10-20% as business requirements dictate.
• Familiarity with public company operations, including executive and Board reporting, SEC/GAAP knowledge, and support for investors or lenders.
• Background in CPG, retail, hospitality, agriculture, or similar sectors that are driven by demand and margins, with complexities in customer, channel, pricing, mix, trade, and supply.
• Direct experience in balancing demand with constrained supply, including scenario planning, allocation choices, pricing and trade strategies, and margin/cash tradeoffs.
• Practical experience as a player/coach in a lean organizational structure.
• Strong analytical skills with a forward-looking focus, including the ability to build driver-based models, test assumptions, and identify risks related to revenue, margin, cash flow, and execution.
• Excellent communication skills, with the courage to convey the truth in reporting, even under pressure.
• Advanced proficiency in financial software and systems, encompassing ERP and data visualization tools.
