This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Define and implement PICTON’s enterprise data strategy, architecture, and roadmap encompassing Databricks, Snowflake, APIs, applications, analytics, and AI.
• Create a scalable architecture that balances performance, security, cost, and business requirements.
• Develop a contemporary data platform that facilitates portfolio construction, performance analysis, risk management, analytics, and AI applications.
• Oversee the design of dependable, scalable pipelines for market, security, portfolio, and historical data.
• Set standards for data quality, lineage, governance, security, and ownership.
• Advance financial data models and semantic layers to generate consistent, reusable data across products and teams.
• Ensure data accessibility through APIs, applications, analytics, and AI/LLM solutions.
• Build and manage a high-performing Data Engineering and Data Platform team.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Investment, Product, and AI leaders to transform business requirements into effective data solutions.
• Identify opportunities to utilize modern data and AI technologies for gaining a competitive edge.
• Articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and business stakeholders.
• Provide a reliable, scalable data foundation that promotes faster innovation, enhanced investment capabilities, and sustainable competitive advantage.
• Over 10 years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, architecture, or technology leadership.
• Significant experience in team leadership.
• Extensive expertise with modern cloud data platforms, especially Databricks, Snowflake, SQL, APIs, and distributed data pipelines.
• Comprehensive understanding of financial/investment data, including securities, portfolios, market data, performance, risk, and time-series data.
• Proven experience in developing data platforms that cater to analytics, applications, and AI/LLM workloads.
• Strong grasp of data governance, quality, lineage, security, and ownership.
• Ability to navigate between strategic planning and technical specifics, making practical architecture decisions.
• Strong business insight along with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
