This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Design, construct, and manage scalable infrastructure for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving.
• Operate streaming flows utilizing Kafka and Avro.
• Coordinate batch workflows using Airflow.
• Ensure Redshift remains efficient, well-structured, and cost-effective.
• Maintain secure, reproducible cloud environments for development, testing, and production while implementing sensible cost controls.
• Take ownership of SLOs, runbooks, and alerts for critical data systems.
• Safeguard sensitive data via access controls, encryption, secrets management, and retention policies.
• Analyze incidents, lead root-cause investigations, and implement preventive enhancements.
• Enhance data discoverability through cataloging, lineage, ownership, and quality testing.
• Create documentation, tools, and self-service workflows for analytics and engineering teams.
• Work collaboratively with SRE, product, engineering, analytics, and security teams.
• Minimum of 2 years in data platform engineering or scalable software systems.
• Proficient in Kafka and Avro, including schema design, serialization, and evolution.
• Experience with Redshift and production Airflow, focusing on data modeling and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud services and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of data lakes and open table formats is a plus.
• Experience in reliability and security, covering observability, incident response, and troubleshooting pipeline failures.
• Security-aware mindset regarding data access, privacy, and secrets management.
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with dbt is advantageous.
• Must reside in Germany and possess the right to work there.
