This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Act as a dedicated representative of the ASPCA® at Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
• Keep abreast of all externship opportunities and resources available through the ASPCA®.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with veterinary medicine students and student organizations on campus.
• Serve as a resource for peers seeking information on the ASPCA®, veterinary training externships, resources, and future career paths.
• Collaborate with the ASPCA® Campus Relations Senior Manager to coordinate campus events and partnership opportunities.
• Support the logistical planning and execution of campus events and activities organized by student groups.
• Introduce opportunities to student organizations and promote upcoming events to encourage participation and attendance.
• Create written communications about the ASPCA and forthcoming events for students.
• Maintain academic excellence and prioritize educational pursuits.
• Comply with school regulations and policies.
• Demonstrate the ASPCA's Core Values.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Strong commitment to the Mission and Core Values of the ASPCA®.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to foster relationships with fellow students.
• Active participation in at least one student organization related to the core activities of the ASPCA® (e.g., shelter medicine, animal welfare, DEI-focused group, forensics, etc.).
• Not currently acting as a student ambassador for another veterinary or animal welfare organization, non-profit, or company.
• Ability to commit an average of 3 hours per week during the semester to fulfill the responsibilities of an ASPCA® Student Ambassador.
• Capability to work independently (self-starter).
• High degree of maturity and professionalism.
• Access to a computer for virtual meetings and email communication.
• Ability to temporarily store informational and promotional items for distribution to CVM peers on campus.
• Currently enrolled as a veterinary student at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
• High School Diploma (Required).
• Preference will be given to candidates in their 1st through 3rd years of study.
• Flexible schedule averaging 3 hours per week (~48 hours per semester).
• SAVMA Reimbursement: Participate in the annual SAVMA Symposium and receive up to $1,000 reimbursement for travel, lodging, and meal expenses.
• Acquire valuable experience by enhancing leadership, communication, networking, and advocacy skills that will benefit your veterinary career.
• Access to resources such as ASPCA® educational materials, webinars, opportunities to tour and meet with our medical staff at the ASPCA® Cruelty Recovery Center, and professional networking in animal welfare.
• Potential to earn up to $1,000 per semester based on your level of commitment.
• Opportunity to extend the role after two semesters.
