VDC Specialist – Mechanical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist in the setup of BIM projects, manage documentation, and coordinate deliverables.

• Evaluate project scope and contract documents while participating in initial meetings.

• Create and maintain BIM models specifically for mechanical systems.

• Organize project documentation, installation drawings, and track revisions.

• Support the development of BIM execution strategies and coordination plans.

• Generate mechanical models using Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.

• Conduct clash detection and resolve issues with electrical, plumbing, and structural trades.

• Aid in planning for prefabrication, which includes creating spool drawings, conduit layouts, and material takeoffs.

• Update as-built models to accurately reflect field conditions and revisions.

• Perform daily reviews of models and execute QA/QC on mechanical deliverables.

• Review and make redline adjustments to mechanical drawings, submittals, and contract documents.

• Collaborate with contractors, foremen, project managers, and field teams to address constructability issues.

• Participate in weekly BIM coordination meetings and assist in problem-solving.

• Provide technical guidance and support for remote teams.

• Assist in site visits to validate constructability and enhance BIM workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in BIM/VDC for mechanical construction.

• Capability to analyze modeling challenges and propose constructible solutions.

• Extensive knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Procore.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, project managers, and field teams.

• Familiarity with mechanical systems, conduit routing, NEC codes, and installation practices in the field.

• Take full responsibility for the accuracy of BIM models, project success, and team collaboration.

• Experience in multidisciplinary coordination efforts within BIM.
