This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
β’ Create and assess underground outside-plant telecommunications designs for fiber optic network installations.
β’ Design systems for conduits, duct banks, manholes, handholes, roadway crossings, and utility corridors.
β’ Conduct route evaluations and constructability assessments for both greenfield and brownfield initiatives.
β’ Integrate utility conflicts, right-of-way limitations, environmental factors, and permitting needs into designs.
β’ Generate construction drawings, profile sheets, details, and permit documentation.
β’ Perform technical evaluations of Utility Infrastructure Telecom Design QC packages.
β’ Ensure compliance with client specifications, engineering mandates, construction standards, as well as municipal, DOT, utility, NEC, and NESC regulations.
β’ Assess conduit sizing, bend radii, separation criteria, depth of cover, pulling calculations, and access structures.
β’ Identify design shortcomings and provide engineering recommendations for corrective measures.
β’ Collaborate with utility owners, municipalities, transportation agencies, and permitting bodies.
β’ Assist in resolving utility conflicts, planning relocations, submitting permit applications, and responding to agency reviews.
β’ Participate in design review meetings and constructability evaluations.
β’ Offer engineering support during the construction phase.
β’ Review contractor inquiries, RFIs, and requests for field changes.
β’ Assess field conditions and propose engineering solutions.
β’ Assist in the development of as-built documentation and project closure records.
β’ Work collaboratively in a remote setting with multidisciplinary engineering teams, utility stakeholders, permitting agencies, and construction personnel across various geographic areas.
β’ A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field, along with 2 years of relevant experience, or a proven equivalent of experience and/or education.
β’ Availability to work from 12pm to 8pm Pacific time.
β’ Experience in civil infrastructure, utility design, telecommunications engineering, or OSP design.
β’ Proficiency in Civil 3D and associated engineering software.
β’ Background in designing/reviewing underground conduit systems and telecommunications infrastructure.
β’ Familiarity with utility coordination, permitting procedures, and right-of-way stipulations.
β’ Experience in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
β’ Background in supporting hyperscale, broadband, municipal, utility, or data center projects.
β’ Knowledge of underground utility engineering, subsurface utility coordination, and utility conflict assessment.
β’ Understanding of NEC, NESC, DOT, utility accommodation policies, and telecommunications industry benchmarks.
β’ Awareness of fiber optic network architecture and OSP construction methodologies.
β’ Experience in performing quantity takeoffs, cost estimation, and constructability assessments.
β’ Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, utility conflict analysis tools, and digital engineering/model-based design workflows.
β’ Candidates must submit relevant Autodesk Civil 3D design samples.
β’ Authorization for employment in the US is essential; sponsorship is not available at this time or in the future.
β’ A Professional Engineering (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred but not mandatory.
