This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Become a part of Pipeworks Studios as you work on a yet-to-be-revealed AAA project developed using Unreal Engine 5.
• Create tools and development infrastructure that enhance the ease of building, testing, diagnosing, and supporting the game.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, production, support, and client stakeholders to pinpoint workflow and tooling requirements.
• Design, construct, and sustain systems for crash capture, reporting, diagnostic data collection, logging, telemetry, reproduction, and issue triage.
• Develop automated testing tools, manage test orchestration, conduct result analysis, reporting, and create continuous integration workflows.
• Produce tools, plugins, commandlets, scripts, utilities, and validation systems for Unreal Editor.
• Integrate project tools with source control, build systems, issue tracking, external services, and platform-specific workflows.
• Investigate complex failures and enhance root-cause diagnosis systems.
• Write maintainable code, automated tests, documentation, and support materials.
• Provide precise time estimates and effectively communicate trade-offs and risks as project priorities shift.
• Utilize approved AI-assisted coding tools in accordance with client and project specifications.
• Professional experience with Unreal Engine 5.
• Strong expertise in C++, particularly with Unreal modules, plugins, editor extensions, commandlets, or engine-level systems.
• Experience in developing internal tools, automation, testing infrastructure, diagnostic systems, developer workflows, or related engineering solutions.
• Proficient programming or scripting skills in at least one production language.
• Excellent debugging and systems-thinking abilities.
• Capability to navigate extensive and unfamiliar codebases.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills across various disciplines.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn project-specific tools.
• Proficiency with at least one modern AI-assisted coding tool: OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
• Ability to direct, critically assess, and validate AI-generated work while adhering to security and confidentiality guidelines.
• Familiarity with version/source control, code review, issue tracking, and documentation workflows, such as Perforce or Git and Jira or equivalent tools.
• 5+ years of relevant professional engineering experience.
• At least one shipped commercial game or another significant production release is preferred.
• A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory if equivalent professional experience can be demonstrated.
• Experience with crash reporters, minidumps, symbols, call stacks, log aggregation, telemetry, or production support diagnostics is preferred.
• Familiarity with Unreal Automation Test Framework, Gauntlet, BuildGraph, or similar systems is preferred.
• Experience with continuous integration, build farms, test orchestration, or developer productivity infrastructure is preferred.
• Experience in shipping on PC or console platforms and supporting cross-platform development workflows is preferred.
• Knowledge of Python, C#, web technologies, Blazor, or service development is preferred.
• Experience with proprietary engines or other commercial game development environments is preferred.
• Experience in supporting live games, customer support workflows, or post-launch diagnostics is preferred.
