Translation and Language Access Specialist

📋 Description

• The Early Childhood Education and Care Translation and Language Access Specialist is tasked with delivering precise, culturally attuned, and impartial Spanish translations of MIEC curriculum, professional development materials, communications, and organizational resources.

• Ensure that Spanish-speaking Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) professionals can access and engage with the initiatives of MIEC.

• Translate ECEC curriculum materials, instructional guides, training modules, and professional development resources between English and Spanish.

• Edit and proofread translated curriculum and communication materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, tone, and grammatical correctness.

• Collaborate with curriculum developers and subject matter experts to align translations with course objectives and the needs of learners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Translation, Linguistics, Early Childhood Education, Spanish, English, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Professional Translation certification (American Translators Association (ATA) or equivalent).

• Native or near-native proficiency in both written and spoken English and Spanish.

• Over three years (3+ years) of demonstrated work experience translating curriculum or training materials for adult learners.

• More than three years (3+) of experience using translation software or Computer-Assisted Tools (CAT) such as Trados or memoQ, along with Microsoft Office and document collaboration tools.

• At least one year (1+) of demonstrated work experience supporting language access, equity, or workforce development initiatives.

• A minimum of one year (1+) of demonstrated work experience in Early Childhood Education, Adult Learning, Higher Education, or a related field.
