Ukrainian Sports Localization Specialist, Football

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Review, localize, fact-check, translate, and adapt content related to sports, focusing primarily on football, while complying with established writing style guides and standards.

• Conduct research tailored to the market to understand local content, product and terminology trends, as well as the best practices for localization aimed at the target audience.

• Provide constructive feedback on written materials.

• Execute quality control, translation, copy editing, and post-editing of machine translations for content translated from English (US) to Ukrainian (Ukraine).

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the linguistic field, sports journalism, copywriting, or copy-editing.

• In-depth knowledge of sports, with a particular emphasis on football.

• Proven experience in the translation and localization of multimedia content, ideally including machine translations and evaluations.

• Native-level proficiency in the target language.

• Exceptional grammar and writing abilities in the native tongue.

• Strong skills in creative writing, proofreading, and editing in the native language.

• Solid practical understanding of computers and mobile devices, including word processors and spreadsheets.

• Possession of a licensed version of MS Office applications.

• Capacity to work independently and remotely.

• Completion of an assessment that evaluates grammar and subject-matter expertise.

• Published articles on platforms such as ESPN, The Athletic, FourFourTwo, or similar are considered an advantage.

• Experience with sports media platforms, live score applications, or sports streaming services is a plus.

• Ability to adapt writing style and tone to resonate with Gen Z, football fan culture, and pop culture audiences is a bonus.
