Trade Compliance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in export and import compliance operations across various manufacturing sites.

• Classify goods, raw materials, technologies, and technical data under the HTSUS and EAR regulations.

• Evaluate shipments and transactions for licensing, exemptions, and documentation needs.

• Perform restricted party screenings and sanctions assessments.

• Maintain HTS classifications, origin determinations, and customs documentation.

• Work collaboratively with customs brokers and freight forwarders.

• Support internal evaluations, investigations, training, and continuous improvement efforts.

• Provide assistance with border consolidation and export operations as required.

• Track regulatory changes and relay business implications.

• Execute additional tasks as assigned that align with the role's responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in U.S. trade compliance and customs operations.

• Extensive experience with free trade agreements, tariff classification, and valuation principles.

• Capability to manage trade-related projects, such as FTZ feasibility and strategic sourcing/landed cost support.

• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes with the ability to collaborate across various disciplines.

• Proven experience in conducting self-assessments, reviewing entry data, and correcting entries.

• Strong working knowledge of HTSUS, EAR, and U.S. Customs and Trade regulations.

• Proficient in developing financial analyses, including expenditures, forecasts, trends, and hypothetical scenarios.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced work environment.

• Skilled in interpreting complex regulations and effectively communicating their business impact.

• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills with the ability to formulate corrective actions.

• Solid business acumen with the ability to work independently.

• Effective communication skills across various organizational levels.

• High attention to detail.

• Good understanding of Mexico customs and trade operations.

• Experience in supporting IMMEX/maquila operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, Law, or a related field, or equivalent experience in import/export operations.
