Trade Compliance Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee trade compliance initiatives at Molecular Devices, ensuring compliance with import and export regulations.

• Manage daily trade compliance functions in the U.S. and Canada while supporting the global trade compliance team.

• Serve as a trade compliance subject matter expert by collaborating with Supply Chain, Logistics, R&D, Quality, and other stakeholders.

• Spearhead tariff mitigation and cost-saving strategies, which include first sale, duty drawback, country of origin determinations, reconciliation, Section 232 tariff assessments, and cost-avoidance initiatives.

• Create, implement, and continuously enhance trade compliance programs, policies, SOPs, and internal controls for the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

• Identify and implement process improvements and value-added opportunities to boost efficiency, lessen regulatory risk, and cut costs.

• Report to the LSIG Director of Trade Compliance within the Legal & Compliance function.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in customs, export controls, or a related field.

• Proven success in managing trade compliance programs and leading cross-functional initiatives.

• In-depth knowledge of U.S. export regulations, including EAR, Census, OFAC sanctions, Commerce Control List, ECCN classification, export licensing, and restricted party screening.

• Advanced understanding of U.S. customs regulations, encompassing customs valuation, HTS classification, country of origin determination, and import compliance requirements.

• Familiarity with Canadian and EU import and export trade regulations.

• Experience in implementing tariff mitigation strategies, such as free trade agreements, duty drawback, reconciliation, and other cost-reduction programs.

• Willingness to travel approximately 20–30%, including onsite visits to San Jose, CA, and other locations.

• U.S. Licensed Customs Broker is highly preferred.

• Experience with Oracle, ERP systems, and data analytics/visualization tools like Power BI is preferred.

• Previous manufacturing experience, ideally in life sciences manufacturing.
