Tier 1 SOC Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Oversee and investigate security alerts to identify malicious activities for clients during assigned shifts in a 24/7/365 Security Operations Center (SOC).

• Conduct analysis of incoming security alerts using the Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks.

• Adhere to established procedures to triage and respond to malicious activities, including necessary escalation or remediation actions.

• Deliver clear and concise written investigations to clients within the Binary Defense service management system.

• Engage and collaborate with clients during escalated security investigations.

• Contribute to security operations across the client portfolio at Binary Defense.

• Participate in team meetings, shift handovers, and knowledge transfer sessions.

• Complete regular training on the latest technologies and methodologies.

• Stay informed about global vulnerabilities, threats, and attacks.

• Regularly interface with colleagues and shift partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or equivalent professional experience.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Security Operations or a comparable field.

• Knowledge of network and endpoint security principles, as well as current threats, vulnerabilities, and attack trends.

• Proficient understanding of security principles and frameworks, including Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK.

• Capable of working at a high technical level and adept at identifying threats and attack vectors.

• Possession of one or more Cybersecurity certifications.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Prior experience with SIEM platforms such as AlienVault USM Anywhere or Appliance, Splunk, IBM QRadar, and Microsoft Sentinel, either in a professional setting or classroom.

• Previous experience with Endpoint Protection platforms such as CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, SentinelOne, and Cybereason, through work or academic settings.

• Eagerness to learn and continuously enhance skills.

• Availability to work shifts in a 24/7/365 SOC environment.
