Technical Support Engineer, Linux Systems Administrator – L2/L3

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Georgia.

📋 Description

• Manage and maintain GNU/Linux operating systems as well as virtualized/containerized environments like OpenVZ, KVM, and Docker.

• Implement, oversee, and resolve issues with cPanel/WHM and Plesk in shared hosting settings.

• Diagnose and enhance web applications utilizing WordPress, Laravel, PHP, Node.js, and Python stacks.

• Set up and manage network protocols, firewalls, and Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) including ModSecurity and Imunify360.

• Recognize, react to, and reduce security incidents such as malware, phishing attempts, and DoS attacks.

• Resolve issues related to mail flow and deliverability utilizing Exim, Dovecot, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and external mail relays.

• Monitor services and optimize performance across Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed, MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis.

• Assist with infrastructure projects, including the migration of hosting accounts, virtual machines (VMs), and mail systems.

• Support disaster recovery efforts, backups, failovers, and caching/CDN strategies.

• Work collaboratively with the technical team to assist clients facing complex technical challenges.


⛳️ Requirements

• Multiple years of practical experience in the web hosting sector, encompassing both technical support and system administration.

• Advanced knowledge in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.

• Acquaintance with Windows Server environments, including IIS and MSSQL.

• In-depth knowledge of cPanel/WHM, CloudLinux (LVE, CageFS, Selectors), PHP configuration, and shared hosting limitations.

• Established expertise in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed, and other HTTP web servers.

• Strong understanding of web server operations, relational and NoSQL databases.

• Capability to debug intricate web applications at the server level.

• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and network protocols.

• Ability to handle escalated support tickets and collaborate with colleagues on customized technical solutions.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the web hosting field.

• Professional proficiency in English is a significant advantage.

• Experience with Bash scripting, Python utilities, and Ansible playbooks is a plus.

• Familiarity with WHMCS backend architecture and custom module integrations is a plus.

• Knowledge of high-density enterprise server architectures and extensive account consolidation workflows is a plus.
