This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Establish enterprise security architecture and engineering guidance across cloud, identity, network, and emerging technology sectors.
• Oversee security architecture evaluations, threat modeling, and the development of reference architectures.
• Provide counsel to VA stakeholders regarding Zero Trust implementation, modernization strategies, and intricate technical trade-offs.
• Represent Excentium in VA governance boards, design assessments, and technical working groups.
• Mentor the wider engineering team.
• Ensure the technical quality and uniformity of architecture deliverables generated across the program.
• Support enterprise security architecture, engineering, and operations within VA's Office of Information Security (OIS).
• Over 15 years of experience in enterprise security architecture within a large corporation or federal agency similar in scale to GSA, IRS, DoD, or VA.
• An additional advanced degree (e.g., Master's or PhD) in an IT-related discipline may replace up to 5 years of the required experience.
• Proven experience in advancing both legacy and modern architectures, including cloud, mobile, IoT, APIs, and emerging technologies such as AI and post-quantum cryptography.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture tools and frameworks (e.g., SABSA).
• Knowledge of Federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, CIS Controls).
• Demonstrated capability to lead technical trade-off analyses, design evaluations, and cross-functional collaboration with program and project leadership.
• Strong skills in documentation and diagramming related to network topology, system architecture, and data flow.
• A Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture Implementation, Information Systems Integration, Software Development Methodologies, Security Engineering, or Network Systems Communications Management.
• A current certification that meets DoD 8570/8140 workforce requirements at IAT Level III, IAM Level III, or IASAE Level III.
• An approved certification such as CISSP, CASP+ CE, CISA, CISM, CCISO, GCIH, or CSSLP, based on the level and category.
• PMP certification also fulfills this requirement for this position.
• US Citizenship is mandatory.
