Technical Guidance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Provide senior-level technical and management direction for non-assessment cybersecurity assistance across customer programs, systems, and initiatives.

• Convert NIST, OMB, Department, and Federal cybersecurity mandates into actionable technical guidance, implementation strategies, and recommendations.

• Offer advice on security requirements, architecture and engineering, control implementation, continuous monitoring, vulnerability and risk response, cloud and emerging technologies, security documentation, and operational cybersecurity.

• Evaluate technical approaches, designs, modifications, configurations, and security solutions to ensure alignment with requirements and mission objectives.

• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations, while recommending pathways for resolution.

• Plan and oversee significant technical guidance assignments, defining objectives, methodologies, priorities, staffing needs, and deliverables.

• Facilitate coordination among multidisciplinary cybersecurity, engineering, operations, and program stakeholders.

• Lead the resolution of intricate or cross-system cybersecurity challenges and present recommendations to Government decision-makers.

• Develop and enhance technical guidance, procedures, standards, templates, decision aids, and reusable practices.

• Advise Government technical and program leadership on the implications of cybersecurity, implementation options, risks, priorities, and trade-offs.

• Prepare and present technical briefings, recommendations, guidance, and decision-support materials.

• Collaborate with system owners, ISSOs/ISSMs, architects, engineers, operations, vulnerability management, security operations, cloud, governance, and other stakeholders.

• Monitor alterations in Federal/FSA cybersecurity requirements and technological practices, recommending updates to guidance, processes, technical strategies, and priorities.

• May oversee or direct supporting technical personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• More than 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance/security, cybersecurity engineering, architecture, technical advisory support, or a closely related field.

• Senior industry professional certification such as CISSP or an equivalent credential.

• Proven experience providing technical and management leadership on significant cybersecurity or technology projects.

• Extensive knowledge of Federal security requirements, NIST controls/RMF concepts, security architecture/engineering, control implementation, continuous monitoring, vulnerability/risk management, and operational security.

• Experience directing client activities and coordinating methodologies, staffing, resources, and technical execution for complex cybersecurity needs.

• Proficient in interfacing and negotiating with clients and senior management, presenting technical recommendations, risks, alternatives, and implementation choices.

• Capability to make technical and management decisions that demand expert domain knowledge.

• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams or workstreams and supervising assigned personnel.

• Eligibility to obtain a 6c Public Trust.

• An active Secret clearance is highly preferred.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Preferred: Familiarity with NIST RMF and NIST SP 800-53 concepts.

• Preferred: Knowledge of ATO/evidence automation.

• Preferred: Experience with GRC or assessment workflow platforms.

• Preferred: Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages.

• Preferred: Understanding of REST APIs.

• Preferred: Experience with security scanning/SBOM data.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Jira/Confluence/GitLab.

• Preferred: Experience with AWS.
