Tech Lead, Platform Team – Backend-Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hong Kong, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and sustain robust integrations between the platform and external third-party systems.

• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of the AWS environment.

• Create and implement well-organized APIs and services to facilitate seamless data exchange across platforms.

• Employ best practices in API versioning, authentication, and error handling.

• Develop and manage AWS services utilizing CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms for integrations.

• Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and proactively enhance system security.

• Utilize AI tools for code generation, debugging, test development, and documentation.

• Assist in fostering practical AI adoption within the team.

• Define technical direction and standards for the platform.

• Lead architecture and design reviews.

• Promote alignment on intricate, cross-team projects.

• Mentor and develop engineers while elevating standards for code quality, delivery, and engineering practices.

• Take ownership of the technical direction, architecture, and delivery for a Platform sub-team while remaining actively involved with coding.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8-10+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering, emphasizing system integrations, workflow orchestration, and API-driven solutions.

• A minimum of 2+ years in a technical leadership position (Tech Lead or Engineering Manager).

• Proven history of leading teams, making architecture decisions, and delivering complex projects from start to finish.

• Preferably proficient in Node.js and TypeScript, with substantial experience in building APIs and working with event-driven/serverless architectures.

• Strong backend engineers skilled in Go, Java, or Python may be considered if they can quickly adapt.

• Extensive experience with AWS.

• Solid understanding of CI/CD practices, encompassing build/test/release pipelines, deployment automation, and the operation of production services.

• Comfortable utilizing AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Codex.

• Familiar with integrating LLM APIs, including MCP and RAG.

• Practical experience with relational databases such as AWS Aurora, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.

• Knowledge of schema design and ORM frameworks such as TypeORM.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to debug intricate integration flows across various systems.

• Experience in fintech, payments, crypto, or financial services integration is advantageous.
