This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
β’ Enhance software-defined networking for a global GPU cloud infrastructure that supports AI workloads, cloud gaming, content delivery, and accelerated services.
β’ Work alongside engineers and architects to establish, assess, and refine multi-tenant control-plane and data-plane architecture utilizing Open vSwitch, OVN, OpenFlow, and overlay networks.
β’ Offer technical guidance and mentorship through design and code evaluations, implementation direction, production-readiness assessments, and engineering-quality enhancements.
β’ Create and evaluate production software for Kubernetes networking, network plugins, distributed control planes, Linux host networking, virtual-machine networking, and network automation.
β’ Convert product and infrastructure specifications into secure orchestration services, APIs, component boundaries, state models, compatibility strategies, and delivery plans.
β’ Propel the integration of Open vSwitch and OVN across flow behavior, configuration, lifecycle management, upgrades, interoperability, performance, failure recovery, and large-scale production operations.
β’ Develop automated unit, integration, system, performance, scale, and upgrade tests that connect to CI, deployment, and release-qualification workflows.
β’ Participate in the teamβs on-call rotation and lead networking escalations with partner teams.
β’ Address incidents utilizing packet captures, SDN state, telemetry, profiling, controlled experiments, and source debugging, while implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
β’ Define and enhance objectives related to reliability, performance, security, and resource efficiency.
β’ Engineer monitoring, telemetry, tracing, and service-level visibility for production networks.
β’ BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
β’ Over 12 years of experience in designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining production software in C and Go.
β’ Proficient in Bash and Python for test, diagnostic, build, or operational automation.
β’ Experience in developing, integrating, and troubleshooting Open vSwitch and OVN, including OpenFlow and control-plane-to-data-plane interactions.
β’ Practical experience with Kubernetes networking, including container network interfaces, network policy, node and pod traffic paths, network plugins, upgrades, and failure modes.
β’ Solid understanding of Linux networking fundamentals, including IP, TCP, UDP, routing, switching, overlay networks, tunneling, network namespaces, and network policy.
β’ Expertise in architecting distributed systems with secure service APIs, state management, consistency, scalability, compatibility, and failure handling.
β’ Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, deployments, upgrades, observability, and performance analysis.
β’ Experience in supporting production services through a shared on-call rotation and coordinating incident responses.
β’ Collaborative architecture and technical leadership demonstrated through written designs, cross-team collaboration, critical reviews, mentoring, and production delivery.
β’ Contributions to Open vSwitch, OVN, OVN-Kubernetes, Kubernetes networking, or another relevant open-source project are advantageous.
β’ Familiarity with large-scale cloud and accelerated virtualization systems, including SR-IOV, RDMA, SmartNICs, DPUs, NFV, KVM/QEMU, or container runtimes is a plus.
β’ Experience in building secure, high-performance gRPC or REST services utilizing transport security and robust authentication is beneficial.
β’ Practical application of agentic AI and AI-assisted software-development tools is a plus.
