Principal Software Engineer – Air Traffic Solutions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain software integrated into ATMS products.

• Ensure documentation and work instructions align with ATS SED’s stringent software engineering standards and processes.

• Engage in the agile process, which includes daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming, and story pointing.

• Collaborate with an integrated engineering team in a highly cooperative setting.

• Maintain regular communication with engineering team members, program management, and external stakeholders.

• Act as a subject matter expert and resolve complex system issues.

• Develop and support safety-critical air traffic management systems utilized for controlling and monitoring civil and military aviation traffic globally.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience.

• Proficient in developing, integrating, testing, and validating software components within a Unix/Linux environment.

• Familiarity with the complete software development lifecycle utilizing C/C++.

• U.S. citizenship is a mandatory requirement.

• Skilled in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.

• Experience with Agile methodologies and GIT.

• Background in software testing or debugging of source code.

• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes.
