Tech Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical delivery for complex enterprise AI projects from start to finish.

• Define the technical scope, solution strategy, team structure, timelines, proposals, and cost estimates.

• Direct architecture, document technical choices, review engineering tasks, and oversee progress, trade-offs, and risks.

• Develop prototypes, implement crucial integrations, and address critical-path issues as required.

• Deliver production-quality systems, which include agentic systems, services powered by large language models (LLMs), and associated platforms.

• Act as the technical liaison for clients, articulating technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.

• Navigate enterprise approval processes, collaborate with platform teams, conduct security assessments, and manage organizational constraints.

• Work on internal tools and templates for client project builds.

• Provide mentorship to engineers within project teams.

• Report directly to the Engineering Director.

• Manage one major build almost full-time, or simultaneously oversee two or three smaller builds, depending on project portfolio demands.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.

• At least 2 years of experience in leading technical projects and managing engineering teams.

• Proven track record of taking systems from design through to production in another organization's environment.

• Demonstrated expertise in applied AI engineering, covering areas such as agents, tool utilization, retrieval, MCP, evaluations, and orchestration.

• Experience in deploying LLM-based systems into a production environment.

• Understanding of reliability, cost, and evaluation factors for LLM systems.

• Proficiency in Python, CI/CD practices, testing, code review processes, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools like Claude Code, Codex, and workflows based on MCP.

• Experience with real production cloud environments; Azure is preferred.

• Experience deploying within restricted enterprise environments is advantageous.

• Capability to explain architectural concepts to VP-level stakeholders and facilitate client-facing technical discussions.

• Must reside in Lisbon or elsewhere in Portugal.

• CV and a brief note detailing a technically led project, challenges faced, and lessons learned must be submitted.
