Team Lead, Language Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Supervise a team of project and/or operations personnel within the Language Services division

• Maintain high standards in training, risk management, resource allocation, quality assurance, and compliance

• Act as a subject matter expert in localization processes, language technology applications, and the clinical/pharmaceutical sector

• Mentor and develop team members through knowledge transfer, best-practice documentation, process manuals, and training resources

• Facilitate the growth and integration of language services within ICON’s Clinical & Scientific Research sector

• Cultivate expertise in localization, language technology, clinical/pharmaceutical trends, and regulatory environments

• Advise junior staff on client requirements, industry advancements, and challenges in Life Sciences service delivery

• Assist in strategic client engagement, retention, and sales efforts

• Establish project management methodologies and operational frameworks to enhance efficiency, consistency, quality, and risk management

• Oversee team-level human resources functions, including performance management, staffing, employee engagement, and recognition initiatives

• Ensure the provision of high-quality, compliant language services across various projects

• Manage complex or strategic project portfolios and serve as a senior escalation point

• Identify and address project risks and aid in proposal development

• Foster continuous improvement through client feedback, issue resolution, and operational insights

• Represent the department in both internal and external meetings, such as client reviews and strategic discussions

• Lead or participate in CAPA investigations and advocate for localization quality assurance protocols

• Oversee the onboarding and professional development of staff

• Maintain project-specific tools, checklists, and documentation relevant to the department

• Ensure adherence to applicable SOPs, policies, and procedures

• Perform additional responsibilities as reasonably assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in translation, localization, or language services project management, including mentoring or coordinating teams

• Strong knowledge of Life Sciences translation (e.g., pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, biotech)

• Comprehensive understanding of localization workflows, quality management standards, and industry benchmarks (e.g., GxP, ISO)

• Practical experience with quality investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA execution in localization

• Demonstrated capability to nurture strategic client relationships and contribute to sales initiatives through solution-oriented thinking

• Proficient in coaching and enhancing team members’ expertise in both localization and clinical content

• Advanced experience with CAT tools, TMS platforms, and structured content formats (XML, PDF, etc.)

• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and organizational abilities

• Ability to excel in a deadline-driven, regulated environment with minimal oversight

• Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is located
