This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Supervise the preparation, review, and prompt submission of federal, state, local, and industry-specific tax returns and regulatory documents.

• Ensure adherence to tax laws, regulations, and reporting obligations across all operational jurisdictions.

• Manage filings related to sales and use tax, excise tax, franchise tax, property tax, payroll tax, and other relevant taxes.

• Track tax legislation and relay business impacts to leadership.

• Formulate tax planning strategies in collaboration with Finance leadership to align with business goals and reduce tax liabilities.

• Investigate tax issues and offer recommendations concerning transactions, acquisitions, and organizational initiatives.

• Assess tax implications for new products, operations, and market expansions.

• Assist with tax planning, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic financial initiatives.

• Prepare and evaluate tax provisions, reconciliations, journal entries, supporting schedules, and disclosures.

• Collaborate with Accounting during month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Ensure accuracy and reconciliation of tax accounts in the general ledger.

• Support with income-tax financial statement disclosures.

• Coordinate tax audits, examinations, and information requests from agencies.

• Collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors during annual audits and compliance reviews.

• Maintain tax documentation and records to ensure regulatory compliance and audit preparedness.

• Address tax notices, assessments, and inquiries.

• Develop, implement, and uphold tax policies, procedures, and internal controls.

• Enhance tax processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

• Assist with the implementation and optimization of tax software and reporting systems.

• Collaborate with Accounting, Payroll, Sales, Operations, and external consultants.

• Offer technical tax guidance and training to internal stakeholders.

• Lead specialized tax-related projects and perform additional assigned responsibilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation is preferred.

• CPA designation is preferred.

• Required experience in multi-state tax compliance and reporting.

• Preferred experience in consumer-packaged goods (CPG) or regulated industries.

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and compliance necessities.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as they pertain to income taxes.

• Experience working with a high sense of urgency in either team settings or independently.

• Exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to interpret complex tax regulations and convey recommendations clearly.

• Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple deadlines.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Continuous improvement mindset with the capability to develop efficient and scalable tax processes.

• Strong communication skills to effectively lead peers and interact across teams.

• Ability to maintain a sense of urgency while ensuring accuracy in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

• Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.

• Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

• Familiarity with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and work management systems such as Slack, Jira, or similar platforms.

• Willingness to travel occasionally between Company locations or work sites as necessary.

• Must be at least 21 years of age, in accordance with applicable state regulations.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, where legally permitted, is required.

• Must obtain and maintain all licenses, permits, certifications, or registrations mandated by applicable federal, state, provincial, or local laws and regulations.

• ServSafe Certification or Food Handler's Card is preferred, where applicable.

• Adherence to all company safety, sanitation, quality, and food safety policies is mandatory at all times.
