Systems Engineer – Tech Foundations, Jira Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Configure, manage, and enhance Airbnb's Atlassian platforms continuously.

• Take ownership of the complete delivery for defined projects related to the deprecation of Jira Data Center and the transition to Jira Cloud.

• Administer Jira Cloud Software, Jira Cloud Service Management, and related Atlassian tools.

• Design and implement configurations for Jira, including workflows, issue type hierarchies, permission schemes, notification schemes, screens, and field setups.

• Deliver migration workstreams from Jira Data Center to Cloud and coordinate stakeholder readiness for cutover.

• Configure Jira Service Management projects, which encompass SLAs, custom queues, JSM Forms, approval workflows, and security schemes.

• Create and sustain dashboards and reports utilizing native Jira Cloud tools.

• Support and maintain Airbnb's custom Forge applications.

• Manage Atlassian access, user lifecycle, license hygiene, and enhance security posture.

• Collect requirements from business stakeholders and convert those needs into configuration and automation solutions.

• Configure Atlassian Rovo AI agents and automation rules.

• Write and maintain Jira Automation rules using JavaScript.

• Utilize the Jira REST API for integrations, data imports, and custom reporting.

• Assist with testing cycles, prepare and execute test scripts, track defects, and ensure rollback strategies are in place.

• Engage in Agile ceremonies for platform-centric workstreams.

• Maintain system configurations, runbooks, and knowledge base entries.

• Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to incidents related to Atlassian platforms.

• Identify and mitigate technical debt while contributing to design and configuration reviews.

• Mentor teammates through examples and constructive feedback.

• Involve in the hiring and onboarding process and provide feedback on candidates.

⛳️ Requirements

• BE/B.Tech or a relevant technical degree.

• Over 3 years of practical experience in Atlassian administration, particularly with Jira Software and Jira Service Management (Jira Cloud) in enterprise settings.

• Strong understanding of Jira workflow design, encompassing post functions, validators, and conditions.

• Proficient in JQL for filters, subscriptions, dashboards, and board configurations.

• Practical experience in facilitating Jira migrations from Data Center to Cloud, including project configuration migration and ensuring data integrity.

• Experience in configuring Jira Cloud's native tools for reporting and planning purposes.

• Willingness to work during overlapping hours with USA time zones.

• Hands-on experience with the Jira REST API using tools such as Postman (GET/PUT/POST) for data extraction, integration, and reporting.

• Experience in maintaining integration points with Atlassian Cloud, including service account management.

• Familiarity with integrating Atlassian tools with identity providers like Okta and LDAP.

• Understanding of user lifecycle and license management practices.

• Exposure to Atlassian Rovo or other AI/ML functionalities within the Atlassian ecosystem.

• Experience in creating Jira Automation rules.

• Working knowledge of JavaScript and JSON for custom automation tasks.

• Practical experience with Jira Service Management, including SLA configuration, JSM Forms, custom queues, and approval workflows.

• Experience in writing and executing test scripts, as well as documenting defects for platform changes or migrations.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to operate independently in a remote-first, dynamic environment while keeping stakeholders updated on progress and challenges.

• SAFe or Scrum certification is a plus.

• Familiarity with Slack, Asana, Figma, Airtable, and Miro is advantageous.
