System Engineer, Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, manage, and continually enhance highly available Object Storage systems utilizing Ceph.

• Oversee, monitor, maintain, and optimize extensive distributed storage environments.

• Ensure the stability, performance, scalability, and security of data center infrastructures.

• Assess customer needs and develop sustainable storage architectures tailored for modern enterprise workloads.

• Automate operational and deployment workflows.

• Conduct capacity planning, performance evaluations, and proactive enhancements of storage environments.

• Resolve intricate technical issues and serve as an escalation point for advanced storage-related incidents.

• Contribute to the development of technical concepts, standards, and best practices for storage services.

• Generate and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base resources.

• Remain updated on Software-Defined Storage, Ceph, Object Storage, and cloud-native technologies while providing input on platform strategy.


⛳️ Requirements

• A degree or vocational training in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Several years of practical experience in operating and managing enterprise storage environments.

• Strong proficiency in Ceph, Object Storage technologies (S3-compatible platforms), and distributed storage architectures.

• Familiarity with Linux-based systems and enterprise-scale environments.

• Knowledge of replication, erasure coding, high availability, disaster recovery, and storage performance optimization.

• Experience with automation and infrastructure management tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.

• Understanding of Kubernetes, container platforms, or cloud-native ecosystems is a significant advantage.

• Capable of analyzing complex technical problems and devising sustainable, practical solutions.

• Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.

• Strong customer service orientation and mindset.

• Proficient communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

• Proficiency in German is a plus.
