Senior Systems Engineer – Wireless & Wired Networking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Georgia.

📋 Description

• Take independent charge of developing, maintaining, and supporting The Home Depot's technical infrastructure.

• Design, implement, maintain, and support both wireless and wired network infrastructures across supply chain environments as well as corporate enterprise networks.

• Engage in complex, high-impact network initiatives.

• Ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of network systems.

• Analyze and resolve intricate network challenges.

• Stay updated on innovations, industry trends, and changes within internal systems.

• Conduct research and analyze business trends along with behavioral data to identify areas for improvement and initiatives.

• Evaluate, develop, and recommend cost-effective technological solutions.

• Research and design architectures for infrastructure, networks, databases, cloud, AI, and security.

• Create and maintain tools for monitoring and support.

• Participate in project planning and reporting activities.

• Collaborate with product and project teams to facilitate infrastructure solutions.

• Support technology architecture design reviews.

• Monitor and optimize applications, infrastructure, networks, databases, and security measures.

• Lead root cause analysis, debugging, support, and post-mortem evaluations for security incidents and service interruptions.

• Maintain, upgrade, and support existing systems and infrastructure.

• Manage vendor problem tickets until resolution.

• Produce internal documentation and transition knowledge-base articles to infrastructure-as-code models.

• Keep monitoring and alerting systems current.

• Provide application support for production software.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years of age.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in a related field is required.

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.

• Background as an Information Technology or Network Engineer is necessary.

• Proficiency in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining wireless and wired network infrastructures.

• Experience with wireless RF coverage and network design in warehouse, distribution center, or corporate settings.

• Familiarity with wireless design, predictive modeling, site surveys, and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, or Wi-Fi 7 technologies is essential.

• Experience with LAN and WLAN technologies.

• Proficiency in routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, as well as network switching.

• Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies.

• Experience in network automation and scripting using Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.

• Proficient in predictive wireless design and tools for wireless site surveys like Ekahau or Hamina.

• Experience in monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing network performance, stability, and scalability.

• Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving complex network issues.

• Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD toolchains.

• Experience in supporting production network infrastructures.

• Background in supporting a 24x7 retail operation.
