Support Worker – Weekends

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Deliver consistent and thoughtful support to the same young individual and their family over an extended period.

• Understand and adapt to the young person's personality, routines, needs, and unique communication styles.

• Assist in community activities.

• Use your own vehicle to transport a child.

• Provide personal care and assist with medication as trained.

• Collaborate in a 2:1 support model with another support worker during each session.

• Keep precise records.

• Participate in weekend and potentially school holiday support sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Dependable availability for at least one weekend every two weeks, either on Saturday, Sunday, or both.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in supporting children and young people with neurodiverse needs, including relevant experience with autism, ADHD, PDA, or learning disabilities.

• Experience in supporting children with complex needs and behaviors of concern.

• A patient demeanor that understands behavior as a form of communication, recognizing the various ways pre-verbal or non-verbal children may express their needs.

• Experience offering personal care and medication support, or a willingness to undertake necessary training before performing these tasks.

• A compassionate, dependable, and resilient approach, capable of establishing a positive and consistent relationship with the child and their family.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.

• A full UK driving license, access to a suitable vehicle, and appropriate insurance for transporting a child.

• Willingness to complete mandatory training, undergo the required Enhanced DBS check, and register with the DBS Update Service.

• A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification is preferred, though not essential.

• Experience in a special school setting or familiarity with PECS or Makaton would be advantageous.
