Support Worker

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Offer consistent and familiar support to the same young individual and their family over a period of time.

• Understand and adhere to the young person's routines, interests, needs, and unique communication styles.

• Assist with community activities, including swimming sessions.

• Use your personal vehicle to transport the child.

• Collaborate with another support worker, providing care on a 2:1 basis during each session.

• Aid with personal care and medication tasks, provided you have received appropriate training.

• Keep accurate and up-to-date records of your interactions and support.

• Be available to work on Saturdays, Sundays, or both, with opportunities for sessions during school holidays.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be reliably available at least one weekend every two weeks, on either Saturday, Sunday, or both.

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in supporting children and young individuals with neurodiverse needs, including autism, ADHD, PDA, or learning disabilities.

• Proven experience in assisting children with complex needs and challenging behaviors.

• A patient demeanor that recognizes behavior as a form of communication, including understanding how pre-verbal or non-verbal children may express their needs.

• Experience in providing personal care and assisting with medication, or a willingness to complete necessary training prior to taking on these responsibilities.

• A caring, dependable, and resilient attitude, with the ability to foster a positive and consistent relationship with the child and their family.

• Strong communication skills and the capacity to maintain precise records.

• A full UK driving license, access to a suitable vehicle, and appropriate insurance for transporting a child.

• A willingness to undergo mandatory training, complete the required Enhanced DBS check, and register with the DBS Update Service.

• A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or an equivalent qualification is preferred but not essential.

• Experience working in a special school setting or familiarity with PECS or Makaton is advantageous.
