This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Guide peers in live virtual group environments while assisting members with identity-related challenges.
• Adopt an empathetic and proactive stance towards the emotional needs of members.
• Utilize Plume’s monthly themes and templates to develop agendas, discussion prompts, and activities.
• Provide insights on support group organization, facilitator training resources, and related documentation.
• Address inquiries about Plume services and aid members in accessing those resources.
• Foster participant engagement within the Prism community for connections and interactions beyond group sessions.
• Employ conflict-resolution strategies to manage group dynamics and maintain group agreements.
• Occasionally offer facilitation coverage for fellow facilitators.
• Optionally engage in social gatherings, special events, or temporary moderation for Prism.
• Allocate time across facilitation, preparation, follow-up, training, and consultation duties.
• Operate under the supervision of the Community Programs & Engagement Manager.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a facilitator or peer support specialist.
• At least 2 years of experience and a strong passion for supporting trans/nonbinary individuals through professional roles, community engagement, or volunteer work.
• Over 1 year of experience facilitating virtual or online support groups, workshops, or educational experiences.
• Comfort and expertise in facilitating workshops and educational content focused on equity, anti-discrimination, inclusion, anti-racism, trans/nonbinary issues, consent, and social justice.
• Experience addressing sensitive topics affecting the trans/nonbinary community, such as coming out, mental health, gender identity development and expression, sexuality, relationships, family challenges, isolation and loneliness, substance use, HIV and AIDS, and health and safety issues in a group context.
• Preferred: Professional background in mental health, behavioral health, counseling, licensed social work credentials, peer support, or a related field.
• Preferred: Relevant education or certification, including Licensed Therapist, Social Worker, Peer Support Specialist, Mental Health Advocate, Care Coordinator, Crisis Hotline or Textline Responder, Behavioral Health Aide, Community Health Worker, or Youth Worker.
• Preferred: Capability to facilitate discussions customized for at least two specified communities.
• Preferred: Familiarity with dynamic startup or evolving organizational environments.
• Preferred: Experience with Zoom, Slack, and Google Sheets.
• $105 USD for each completed group session.
• Additional opportunities to facilitate or host community events compensated at $75 USD per event.
• Remote work arrangements with virtually hosted groups.
• Optional involvement in social gatherings, special events, or temporary Prism moderation coverage.
