This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Oversee procurement and logistics operations to swiftly acquire and deliver vital food supplies to kitchens and communities affected by disasters.
• Respond to disaster zones within four hours as the Supply Chain Manager, managing relief efforts either on-site or, in rare cases, remotely.
• Direct and lead field supply-chain teams while embodying WCK’s core values.
• Develop and implement flexible response strategies in high-pressure situations impacted by disasters or conflicts.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise local hires and Corps members.
• Provide consultation on the scope of responses and manage or execute supply-chain operations.
• Deliver regular operational updates to the Response Director.
• Collaborate with various WCK departments, whether on-site or remotely.
• Ensure seamless transitions and thorough handovers between managers and rotating Response Corps teams.
• Complete after-action assessments and identify areas for process enhancement.
• Manage inventory, purchasing, local sourcing, supplier negotiations, transportation, storage, distribution, customs, and freight-forwarding operations.
• Construct and maintain field kitchens, which include plumbing, water filtration, propane, electricity, and HVAC systems.
• Oversee vendors for equipment rentals, water delivery, wastewater management, grease, waste, recycling, and fuel services.
• Establish teams to safely maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance kitchen infrastructure.
• Share cost estimates with Finance and the Response Director.
• Recruit, train, inspire, mentor, and provide feedback to activation personnel.
• Identify gaps in professional development and supply-chain capabilities.
• Build relationships with local communities while conducting outreach and engagement.
• Represent WCK to beneficiaries, partners, and media as necessary.
• Must be willing to spend up to 70% of the time in the field; typical activation duration is four (4) weeks, which may extend longer.
• Candidates must reside within one (1) hour of an international airport or be prepared to relocate.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote and potentially hazardous locations with only four hours notice.
• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in management roles, ideally in fast-paced and dynamic environments, such as military, emergency response, culinary, humanitarian, or event management settings.
• Proven experience in leading, training, and coaching large teams in challenging and rapidly evolving environments.
• Ability to work independently with limited infrastructure and resources.
• Willingness to operate in demanding environments with austere living conditions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with others and follow directions to ensure the safety of yourself and the team.
• Demonstrated negotiation and diplomatic skills in complex and potentially volatile situations.
• Maintain a calm and composed demeanor during crisis scenarios, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Physical endurance and stamina to perform demanding tasks over extended hours in varying and potentially extreme climates.
• Strong mental resilience and emotional intelligence for working in conflict settings.
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity when engaging with diverse local communities.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; Spanish, French, or Portuguese language skills are highly desirable.
• A valid Driver's License is required.
• A valid Passport is required.
