Substation Engineering Group Leader – Specialty Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.

📋 Description

• Lead, develop, and expand a team of engineers, designers, project managers, and technical leaders dedicated to specialty substation projects.

• Provide leadership by coaching and supporting team leads and senior engineering professionals.

• Collaborate with market, operations, and technical team leaders to create strategies that foster team growth and client success.

• Oversee recruiting, hiring, workforce planning, succession planning, and initiatives for employee development.

• Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• Build and enhance relationships with mission-critical, data center, industrial, and private-sector clients.

• Support business development efforts, including client engagement, market expansion, and strategic initiatives.

• Manage group performance, resource allocation, utilization, and financial targets.

• Ensure that projects adhere to high standards of quality, responsiveness, and technical excellence.

• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance scalability and operational efficiency.

• Collaborate with technical leadership to advance engineering standards, best practices, and staff development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

• Over 8 years of experience in substation engineering.

• More than 4 years of experience in leading and/or mentoring teams within an engineering consulting, utility, or infrastructure context.

• Experience in leading through leaders, including project managers, supervisors, technical managers, or team leads (preferred).

• Proven success in talent development, team expansion, and organizational leadership.

• Strong business acumen with a track record in winning work, managing staffing, enhancing financial performance, and meeting operational objectives.

• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership abilities.
