This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist with Renewables/Utility/Power projects in the Substation department.
• Serve as a discipline engineer or overall project engineer.
• Organize, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project tasks.
• Provide design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for foundation design, structural steel design, and grading plans.
• Execute engineering calculations utilizing formulas and technical expertise.
• Complete design calculations using computer-aided methods and/or manual techniques.
• Employ standard engineering practices, procedures, and criteria.
• Create plans, specifications, and observation reports.
• Implement efficiency engineering in design choices.
• Suggest design modifications to enhance quality.
• Collaborate with engineering technicians and seasoned engineers.
• Address design challenges, including field investigations or observations.
• Review design computations performed by others.
• Coordinate various aspects of project design.
• Conduct detailed engineering design and evaluations within your specialty.
• Innovate new strategies and solutions to project challenges.
• Compile reports and correspondence related to assigned projects.
• Potentially engage in marketing, sales, and business development initiatives.
• Communicate and engage with clients to fulfill their requirements.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on interdisciplinary projects.
• May operate in an office setting or in the field.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program or an equivalent is required.
• At least 2 years of engineering experience is necessary.
• Engineering in Training (EIT) registration is required or must be obtained within 6 months.
• Familiarity with electrical utility substation layout and design is preferred.
• Knowledge of structural steel, drilled pier, and spread footing design and detailing is required.
• Grading design experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in MathCAD, STAAD or equivalent, foundation design software, and/or other structural modeling tools is preferred.
• Knowledge of AISC and ACI standards is required.
• ASCE & NESC familiarity is preferred.
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is necessary.
• Up to 15% travel may be required.
• Must possess authorization to work permanently in the US.
