This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee structural engineering projects from initiation through design, coordination, execution, and completion.
• Facilitate communication with clients and stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, fabricators, detailers, and erectors.
• Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, deliverables, and engineering hours.
• Proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
• Design, analyze, and evaluate structural systems while offering technical leadership and oversight.
• Assess calculations, drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with codes.
• Coordinate structural engineering needs with detailing, fabrication, erection, architectural, and other disciplines.
• Handle RFIs, design modifications, scope alterations, technical challenges, and change orders.
• Conduct project meetings and communicate project status, priorities, risks, and decisions.
• Assist with proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, schedules, and project planning.
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
• Foster quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Cultivate strong client relationships through responsive communication and effective project delivery.
• Engage in projects designed in accordance with CISC and AISC standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for registration.
• Minimum of 4+ years of structural engineering experience, with proven project coordination or project management roles.
• Significant experience in structural steel design and construction.
• Competence in managing project schedules, deliverables, budgets, and client interactions.
• Knowledge of relevant Canadian building codes and structural design standards.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Willingness to travel to the United States as necessary.
• Strong foundation in structural engineering with familiarity in building codes, design standards, materials, and construction practices.
• Demonstrated capability to manage engineering projects, schedules, budgets, priorities, and multidisciplinary teams.
• In-depth knowledge of structural steel design, detailing, fabrication, and erection.
• Ability to balance technical requirements with constructability, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Commercial acumen with an understanding of project costs, engineering hours, schedules, and profitability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to foster robust client and stakeholder relationships.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Experience collaborating with architects, consultants, contractors, steel fabricators, detailers, and erectors is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Tekla Structural Designer, Excel, IDEA StatiCa, Bluebeam, RISA Suite, Revit, or RAM Connection is a plus.
• Knowledge of AISC standards and U.S. structural steel projects is considered an asset.
