Strategic Project Lead – Legal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead strategic legal pilots and research initiatives for the training and evaluation of legal AI models from initial scoping to full operationalization.

• Take responsibility for the success of cutting-edge legal AI pilots and assess projects based on legal quality, feasibility, and cost criteria.

• Analyze how case law, contracts, statutes, regulatory filings, and legal reasoning contribute to model training and evaluation.

• Consider privilege, confidentiality, and jurisdictional obligations.

• Create workflows, expert requirements, quality benchmarks, and operational frameworks within Appen's global delivery network.

• Foster trusted relationships with Researchers and Customers.

• Design methodologies that can be implemented in future legal initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) or an equivalent law degree.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in private practice, in-house counsel, legal research, or regulatory and compliance roles.

• At least 2 years of experience managing complex projects, operational workflows, or subject-matter initiatives.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with attorneys, legal professionals, researchers, and clients.

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

• Experience with AI/ML companies, AI laboratories, or data annotation and evaluation projects is a plus.

• Background in managing legal, technical, or data-heavy projects is advantageous.

• Familiarity with legal research, contract analysis, litigation, regulatory/compliance tasks, or other intricate legal processes is desirable.
