Storage Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.

📋 Description

• Continuously improve the Ceph-based Cloud Storage System for enhanced stability, scalability, functionality, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

• Engage in design and architectural decisions for the Ceph-based Cloud Storage.

• Enhance the automation framework for the Ceph-based Cloud Storage infrastructure.

• Optimize systems for metrics collection and alerting.

• Contribute to the internal documentation and knowledge base.

• Oversee the Cloud Storage infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability.

• Collaborate with Network and Operations teams regarding capacity expansion and maintenance schedules.

• Assess new technologies, storage features, and operational methodologies.

• Research and innovate cutting-edge features for the Ceph-based Cloud Storage.

• Attend necessary meetings and engage in job shadowing.

• Communicate effectively across different functions.

• Work autonomously while also collaborating with team members and project stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong problem-solving abilities rooted in foundational data structures and distributed systems principles.

• Proficiency in Linux, including CentOS, RHEL, Debian, and Ubuntu.

• Over 3 years of experience in configuring, deploying, and managing distributed systems.

• Practical experience with cloud hosting, object storage, and block storage concepts.

• Familiarity with performance tuning in virtualized environments.

• Knowledge of server hardware, including IPMI and SATA/NVMe storage drives.

• Robust automation and scripting skills in Python, Bash, PHP, or similar languages.

• Practical experience with automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Salt.

• Experience with Ceph or other software-defined storage solutions is advantageous.

• Familiarity with tools like Prometheus, collectd, ELK, Grafana, Graylog, Graphite, or similar logging, metrics, and time-series tools is a plus.

• Strong communication skills.

• Excellent time management capabilities.

• Must reside in one of the specified U.S. states.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
