Staff Software Engineer, UI Tooling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the prototyping and rapid deployment platform, Kyber

• Spearhead the implementation, maintenance, and scaling of a system that supports thousands of internal projects and users

• Transition Kyber onto advanced cloud platforms

• Enhance Kyber's capabilities to facilitate the product development process

• Integrate Kyber into Airbnb's ecosystem and prototyping workflows

• Define the technical direction and make architectural choices for the rapid deployment of internal applications and product feature prototypes

• Engage in hands-on code writing and code reviews with AI coding agents

• Set and exemplify standards for quality, availability, and system health

• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Product, Security, and Design teams

• Empower Product Managers, Designers, and other non-technical creators to develop rich product feature prototypes

• Guide engineers through design reviews and provide technical mentorship

⛳️ Requirements

• 9+ years of industry experience, preferably in dynamic environments

• Proven history of delivering large-scale, service-oriented systems

• Comprehensive full-stack engineering expertise across backend, frontend, mobile, APIs, and system architecture

• Demonstrated experience in building customer-facing products from inception to launch

• Experience in contributing to product definition, technical architecture, development, and go-live processes

• End-to-end product ownership experience, including iterating on launched products and addressing customer feedback

• Strong architectural design proficiency, including high-scale distributed services, well-structured APIs, data pipelines, efficient algorithms, and reliable integrations

• Sound technical judgment in balancing delivery speed, experimentation, scalability, and long-term engineering quality

• A product-first engineering mindset

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity
