Staff Software Engineer, Platform and Integrations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Design and develop production applications, services, and enhancements tailored for priority banking and mortgage requirements.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define project scope and acceptance criteria.

• Construct and maintain REST APIs, webhooks, event handling, and scheduled batch integrations.

• Assess vendor capabilities and bridge gaps between third-party software and Luminate's operations.

• Implement authentication measures, input validation, idempotency, bounded retries, rate limiting, safe replay, and reconciliation.

• Take ownership of architecture and ensure the technical quality of assigned services.

• Utilize approved AI coding agents to expedite implementation, testing, and documentation processes.

• Develop reusable AI agent skills, instructions, and patterns with defined permissions and rules for sensitive data.

• Establish controls, evaluations, human approval checkpoints, monitoring, and recovery processes for AI agent use cases.

• Maintain GitHub-based development and release methodologies while transitioning from Azure DevOps.

• Create repository templates and CI/CD workflows that include automated testing, scanning, secret detection, reviews, and controlled environment promotions.

• Provision and manage infrastructure as code.

• Keep engineering and operational documentation up to date.

• Implement safeguards to protect NPI and other sensitive information.

• Collaborate with Information Security, Compliance, and Risk teams on threat modeling, AI approvals, vendor assessments, vulnerability remediation, and audit documentation.

• Instrument services with logging, metrics, health checks, and alerts.

• Maintain and test backup, recovery, alerting, and incident response protocols.

• Participate in incident response activities and critical release management.

• Mentor engineers and specialists through pairing, design reviews, code analysis, and knowledge sharing.

• Cross-train team members and assist with recruiting, technical interviews, and onboarding processes.

• Collaborate with technology leaders, delivery stakeholders, Data & Analytics, Business Solutions & Delivery, and IT & Infrastructure.

• Define integration contracts and shared delivery methodologies with Data & Analytics.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally, 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Proven history of designing, delivering, and supporting production applications.

• Demonstrated technical leadership through architecture, mentoring, code reviews, and cross-functional project delivery.

• Practical experience in application development using AI coding agents like Claude Code.

• Competence in reviewing generated code, testing behaviors, protecting sensitive data, and recognizing the limitations of AI tools.

• Experience in delivering projects through a reviewed pipeline in GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitLab, or similar platforms.

• Proficiency in building GitHub-based CI/CD and automating infrastructure processes.

• Experience in deploying and managing services that handle sensitive information.

• Knowledge of application security, identity management, secrets management, and incident response processes.

• Hands-on experience in creating API and webhook integrations.

• Familiarity with authentication, error management, data consistency, and production troubleshooting.

• Experience in addressing gaps between third-party vendor systems and internal business processes.

• Strong programming capabilities in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, C#, or similar languages.

• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and API design principles.

• Understanding of OWASP Top 10, secure SDLC, identity and access management, and NPI protection measures.

• Ability to comprehend data flows and dependencies across various platforms.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.

• A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

• Cloud, security, or DevOps certifications are advantageous.

• Preferred experience with banking or mortgage technologies such as Encompass, Vesta, or Jack Henry.

• Preferred experience in developing or governing production AI agents.

• Preferred experience in establishing engineering practices for a small team or leading a migration to GitHub.
