This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop a technical strategy for the team over the course of a year, aligning it with critical projects that impact the business.
• Work in partnership with product management, design, and analytics throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
• Define and promote technical solutions and operational processes.
• Oversee team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call responsibilities.
• Establish standards for code reviews and design, advocating for quality and ownership through documentation and tech talks.
• Cultivate team talent through constructive feedback, mentorship, and leading by example.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in developing and architecting mobile applications.
• At least 4 years of experience with React Native.
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with React Native and Expo.
• Experience in authoring or migrating native modules and components.
• Familiarity with complex state management in a React application; proficiency with Redux Toolkit is advantageous.
• Experience executing major updates for the React Native SDK and debugging across the JS↔native boundary under the New Architecture.
• Current knowledge of native OS releases and their implications for React Native applications.
• Experience with mobile testing and observability tools, including Maestro/Appium, Sentry/Crashlytics, and Statsig/LaunchDarkly.
• Proficient in AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or similar, including the implementation of appropriate guardrails.
• Proven ability to lead a team in executing large-scale projects.
• Experience in delivering significant features or system components, or phasing out existing functionality through technical and execution planning.
• Capacity to write high-quality, comprehensible code that is utilized by others.
• Ability to navigate from low-level programming idioms to large-system architecture.
• Demonstrated skill in gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional colleagues.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
