Staff Software Engineer – GenAI Innovation, Forward Deployed

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct research and evaluate emerging AI technologies to convert their capabilities into quantifiable business ROI.

• Assess AI solutions critically and identify instances where an issue may not be an AI-related problem.

• Create backends and data layers utilizing business logic, API standards, NBCUniversal gateways, and recognized best practices.

• Implement and manage SQL and NoSQL databases and storage solutions.

• Design features that encompass application UIs and their underlying APIs.

• Ensure code quality by conducting thorough testing and following coding standards, including those for agent-generated code.

• Develop automated tests for functions, services, and objects.

• Guarantee reliability across team systems and the wider NBCUniversal portfolio, ensuring compatibility across devices and browsers.

• Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary, matrixed organization.

• Deploy applications to cloud platforms and resolve application, cloud, and configuration issues as they arise.

• Utilize code- and test-generation tools to expedite the delivery of features and components.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in backend or full-stack development.

• A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating relevant experience.

• Ability to think systemically and design solutions for complex problems.

• Capability to independently take a basic application from concept to delivery.

• Proficiency in Python, AWS, database systems, and SQL.

• Familiarity with the Python ecosystem, including build, test, and deployment tools.

• In-depth knowledge of machine learning practices for the integration of foundation models, including tooling, instrumentation, feature/model selection, and retrieval-augmented generation patterns.

• Some experience in fine-tuning, deep learning, and insights into training/algorithms.

• Ability to analyze complex problems and differentiate user preferences from essential requirements.

• Understanding of API backends and practical experience in integrating and consuming APIs within frontend projects.

• Capability to quickly adapt to feedback and shifting priorities.

• Proficiency in designing, communicating, and implementing technical architectures and scalable solutions.

• Competence in working within secured internal network environments and intricate cloud network configurations.

• Familiarity with the integration of large language models and AI-generated content technologies.

• Acquaintance with modern application development patterns and tools for large language models.

• Strong skills in problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and translating business needs into technical specifications.
