Staff Software Engineer, Experimentation Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain Discord's cutting-edge experimentation platform, which encompasses core services, data pipelines, configuration tools, statistical analysis instruments, and user experience.

• Work collaboratively with external stakeholders and customers at Discord, including those who may not have a technical background.

• Comprehend and influence product telemetry practices to cater to experimentation requirements.

• Create engaging user experiences and scalable data systems that support internal teams and product features utilized by millions of users on a daily basis.

• Partner with various stakeholders across Discord to test features, machine learning models, and more.

• Guide and mentor engineers, fostering their development and enhancing their capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience as a full-stack software engineer.

• Proven experience in creating internal tools.

• Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies and statistical frameworks.

• Experience with experimentation tools.

• Extensive background in leading complex technical projects to successful conclusions.

• Experience in developing systems with robust data governance that prioritizes privacy and security.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL.

• Experience with relational, NoSQL, and data warehouse databases.

• Strong product awareness and excellent communication skills.

• A history of mentoring engineers across various levels.

• A tendency to monitor industry trends and introduce new techniques to solve technical challenges.

• Experience in building fundamental components of experimentation platforms from the ground up is a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with Typescript or Rust is a plus.

• Experience in developing human-in-the-loop AI systems and evaluating AI products is a bonus.

• Familiarity with cloud-computing platforms like Google Cloud Platform or AWS is advantageous.

• Experience with modern data processing frameworks is a bonus.

• Background in full-stack development or product engineering is a bonus.

• A deep understanding of statistics, data science, or large-scale data processing is an additional asset.
