Staff Software Engineer, Developer Ecosystem

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Simplify and enhance the developer platform to make it easier, quicker, and more robust for building applications.

• Conceptualize and implement platform features utilized by developers.

• Spearhead significant technical projects from initial exploration to successful launch.

• Develop systems and tools that support future developer experiences.

• Collaborate across backend, infrastructure, client, and full-stack components.

• Construct and advance core platform services and capabilities that enhance developer experience.

• Create features that assist external developers in building applications on Reddit.

• Engage in various aspects of technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.

• Evaluate code, design documents, product specifications, and user experiences.

• Help influence team strategy and the future trajectory of the platform.

• Share expertise, mentor team members, and foster a culture of thoughtful ownership.

• Collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, designers, and other teams.

• Contribute to establishing a collaborative team environment with a strong sense of ownership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of industry experience in platform functionality, developer tools, full-stack products, or app platforms.

• Proven experience in leading large-scale technical projects from design to delivery.

• Strong background in backend or platform engineering, with the capability to operate across the stack when necessary.

• Knowledgeable in C++, Java, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or React.

• Regularly utilizes AI tools in daily tasks to enhance productivity and software quality.

• History of mentoring engineers and elevating software engineering practices.

• A strong passion for creating high-quality software.

• Entrepreneurial mindset: self-motivated, inquisitive, comfortable with uncertainty, and eager to turn ideas into actions.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a fully remote setting.

• Capable of explaining complex subjects to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Contributions to open-source projects (optional).

• Experience in building Reddit apps using the Devvit platform (optional).
