This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
β’ Take ownership of and enhance the infrastructure that supports Billing Platform services, encompassing compute, storage, networking, CI/CD, and observability.
β’ Design and maintain Terraform infrastructure as code for billing systems hosted on AWS.
β’ Create reusable Terraform module patterns and establish infrastructure standards for the team.
β’ Develop and maintain observability systems that include metrics, logging, and alerting.
β’ Enhance billing accuracy and payment reliability through effective observability.
β’ Define deployment patterns and create runbooks for AI-agent-assisted development workflows.
β’ Implement rollback procedures, establish safe promotion gates, and automate validation processes.
β’ Collaborate with software engineers on service design and operational requirements.
β’ Identify systemic risks and drive improvements across various organizational boundaries.
β’ Lead the incident response efforts for issues related to the billing system.
β’ Engage in an on-call rotation outside of standard business hours as necessary.
β’ Mentor engineers within the team.
β’ Deliver infrastructure enhancements from design to production and influence the technical direction.
β’ Over 8 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or SRE roles supporting production SaaS systems at scale.
β’ Extensive AWS expertise, including ECS or EKS, RDS with a preference for Postgres, networking, IAM, and cost management.
β’ Proficient in Terraform at an expert level, including the creation of reusable module patterns and standards.
β’ Experience in developing and managing observability stacks such as Datadog or Grafana at an organizational scale.
β’ Strong knowledge of CI/CD systems like Jenkins or GitHub Actions, including pipeline design and ownership of the developer experience.
β’ Operational and architectural experience with Kubernetes.
β’ Proven track record of identifying systemic risks and implementing improvements across team or organizational boundaries.
β’ Security-first mindset, including skills in threat modeling, blast radius analysis, least privilege, and maintaining audit trails.
β’ Strong proficiency in written English.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
β’ Experience with billing, payments, or financial systems infrastructure is advantageous.
β’ Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
