Staff Software Engineer, Backend – Identity International

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical strategy for the team over a year-long timeframe.

• Link the technical strategy with key projects that significantly impact the business.

• Work in partnership with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.

• Define and promote technical solutions and operational processes.

• Manage team operations and availability, which includes monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call responsibilities.

• Set standards for code review and design.

• Champion engineering standards through writing and delivering tech talks.

• Foster team talent by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Kotlin.

• Proven experience in developing highly available distributed systems.

• Familiarity with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in delivering significant features or system components, or in phasing out existing functionality through technical and execution plans.

• Strong coding abilities.

• Capability to work from low-level language idioms up to large-system architecture.

• Demonstrated skill in gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with a global engineering team.
