Staff Software Engineer, Backend – Identity International

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement the technical strategy for the team over a one-year period.

• Align technical strategy with key projects that have a significant business impact.

• Work collaboratively with product management, design, and analytics teams throughout the product development process.

• Ensure the understanding and management of technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs.

• Define and promote technical solutions and operational procedures.

• Oversee team operations and ensure availability.

• Establish monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting systems for on-call support.

• Set standards for code reviews and design processes.

• Promote engineering standards through documentation and technical presentations.

• Cultivate team talent by providing feedback and guidance.

• Lead by example in all aspects of the work.

• Engage in the mandatory on-call rotation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Kotlin.

• A proven track record in developing highly available distributed systems.

• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.

• Demonstrated success in delivering significant features, system components, or phasing out existing functionalities through a technical and execution plan.

• Ability to produce high-quality, comprehensible code.

• Capability to navigate from low-level language idioms to large-system architecture.

• Proven ability to solicit and iterate on feedback from engineering and cross-functional colleagues.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Must reside in Spain.

• Willingness to take part in an on-call rotation.
