This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design and maintain essential services that allow customers to provision, purchase, and license Sonatype products.
• Create, develop, test, and sustain software that facilitates provisioning, licensing, and purchasing functions.
• Construct scalable, dependable, and maintainable backend services.
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural choices.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and various cross-functional teams.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code while engaging in code reviews.
• Diagnose production issues and enhance system performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Mentor and guide engineers through technical advice, design evaluations, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to automation, infrastructure enhancements, and cloud-native engineering practices.
• Make a significant impact as a proactive individual contributor.
• Over 6 years of professional software engineering experience in developing production-quality applications.
• Hands-on experience with agent-driven development and code review processes.
• Proficient in building backend applications using Java.
• Familiarity with additional programming languages such as Golang and Python.
• Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS.
• Practical experience using Docker, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Knowledge of Maven.
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and microservices.
• Strong grasp of software design principles, testing, debugging, and distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for mentoring fellow engineers.
• A desire to maintain a highly technical role while providing technical leadership.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience in building or supporting commercial platforms related to licensing, provisioning, subscription management, or purchasing systems.
• Experience in Agile development environments.
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD best practices.
