This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Take ownership of a segment of the platform and the results of one or more teams across interconnected product surfaces.
• Proactively inform leadership about potential risks such as project delays, resource shortages, unrealistic timelines, and technical debt.
• Provide teams with context that aligns company objectives with daily operational activities.
• Manage staffing composition, delivery speed, product alignment, and architectural direction.
• Steer and advocate for the roadmap and sequencing within your area.
• Identify and nurture engineers, guiding them into technical leadership roles.
• Recruit and interview candidates for the teams.
• Collaborate with a technical program manager on planning cycles, dependencies, and operational execution.
• Make architectural choices regarding technical debt and system evolution.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership and fellow Staff Engineers to shape the overall system architecture and shared components.
• Design systems that capture and connect relationships within the entertainment industry.
• Develop CRM workflows, AI-enhanced features, APIs, services, and modern web systems.
• Transition legacy applications to contemporary web-based systems.
• Utilize AI-assisted development for coding, testing, debugging, and system design.
• Proven experience managing outcomes across multiple teams or workstreams simultaneously, through leads rather than direct execution.
• Demonstrated ability to identify risks early and constructively challenge unrealistic scopes or timelines.
• Experience in cultivating engineers into technical leadership roles.
• Confidence in owning a roadmap and advocating for its prioritization.
• Experience in hiring and interviewing candidates.
• Ability to thrive in environments where systems, processes, and organizational structures are still developing.
• Extensive background in software engineering, typically with 15+ years of experience.
• Strong full-stack development skills in building modern web applications, with in-depth expertise in React, TypeScript, and Next.js.
• Solid backend development experience with Node.js, creating scalable services and APIs (REST and gRPC).
• Experience in designing and managing relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure, including cloud-native services such as serverless functions, managed databases, queues, and blob storage.
• Knowledge of containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, as well as infrastructure as code practices with Terraform.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and developer tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar).
