Staff Software Development Engineer – Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +43 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise-scale healthcare platforms.

• Create and implement efficient, scalable solutions that fulfill business requirements and meet quality standards.

• Engage in solution design and architectural discussions alongside architects and senior engineers.

• Provide insights on technical feasibility, performance optimization, and scalability.

• Take part in code reviews to ensure compliance with coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines.

• Communicate and collaborate with team members to align on decisions and offer technical insights.

• Assist in the adoption of best practices, new technologies, and tools to enhance productivity, efficiency, and code quality.

• Participate in knowledge sharing through code reviews, tech talks, and workshops.

• Implement advanced features and improve existing functionalities in collaboration with other developers.

• Offer guidance and mentorship to junior developers.

• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, Operations, and Engineering teams to create secure, highly available, scalable, and resilient healthcare applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software development experience in enterprise solution delivery within a large-scale distributed environment.

• More than 7 years of hands-on Java application development experience, including expertise in modern Java ecosystem frameworks.

• At least 5 years of experience in Java and Spring Boot development.

• Over 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise cloud initiatives and cloud computing technologies.

• More than 5 years of experience in designing and developing modern microservices and cost-effective APIs.

• At least 3 years of experience in CI/CD pipeline automation.

• Over 3 years of experience working in an Agile-based development environment.

• Experience with Agentic AI / Generative AI is preferred.

• Preferred experience in the health and wellness domain.

• Full-stack development experience with AngularJS, JavaScript, Oracle, and modern NoSQL databases is preferred.

• Understanding of Generative AI concepts and techniques, including NLP, text generation and summarization, conversational AI, and chatbots is preferred.

• Experience with NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript is preferred.

• Experience in developing and managing Apollo GraphQL APIs, Federation, and API Gateway patterns is preferred.

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).

• Ability to work in one of the listed U.S. states or Washington, D.C.
