Staff Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and implement security solutions across products, internal applications, infrastructure, enterprise systems, and observability.

• Execute threat modeling for current systems and new product initiatives.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into development and delivery processes.

• Develop, fine-tune, and automate security alerts, detections, observability, and response workflows leveraging AI and agents.

• Engage in and assist in leading incident response as part of the on-call rotation.

• Support governance, compliance, and regulatory initiatives including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI.

• Mentor engineers and disseminate security best practices throughout the organization.

• Define security priorities and technical direction.

• Establish relationships with internal stakeholders and external security vendors.

• Assist in protecting Shakepay’s infrastructure, products, and customer data while enhancing its AI platform, security capabilities, and observability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in security engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field, with substantial experience in security.

• Strong technical expertise in one or more security domains, with the capability to function across related domains.

• Advanced, hands-on experience with AI tools, agents, and automation in security engineering.

• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred).

• Practical experience with incident response and on-call duties.

• Excellent communication abilities, technical judgment, and sense of ownership.

• Proficiency in English is mandatory.

• Bonus: experience in fintech, cryptocurrency, or other regulated sectors.

• Bonus: familiarity with product security and influencing product design.

• Bonus: experience in AI-assisted security testing, offensive security, vulnerability research, detection engineering, or security observability.

• Bonus: knowledge of Bitcoin.

• Bonus: comfort with Git/GitHub.
